PSU earth scientists part of Nobel Peace Prize-winning UN climate change panel

The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which shares the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore, involves several Penn State earth scientists as members of the core Working Groups, authors or expert reviewers. IPCC is a network of more than 2,000 scientists who assessed on a comprehensive, objective basis the scientific, technical and socioeconomic information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. The Fourth Assessment Report "Climate Change 2007," which provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the current state of knowledge on climate change, is expected to be released soon.
