Penn State Students Go Online to Go Outback

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; November 27, 2006 - Beginning immediately and carrying through Friday, December 1 at 5:00 p.m., all full-time Penn State students can apply on-line at www.GoPSUsports.com for tickets to Penn State’s appearance in the 2007 Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day in Tampa, Fla.

The sale of this year’s bowl offering to Penn State students will be done exclusively on-line, listening to the feedback from the students on how and when they prefer to purchase tickets. If the allotment of student tickets is spoken for before the offering concludes Friday afternoon, a lottery system will be utilized to determine the distribution of tickets to the Nittany Lions’ match-up with a team from the Southeastern Conference.

"The system that we put into place this year for high demand road games like Notre Dame and OSU worked very well," said Greg Myford, Associate Athletic Director for Marketing & Communications. "Our ticket services staff has continually tweaked the system to the point now that we feel we can offer the students a secure, efficient, convenient and -- above all else -- fair way to secure a ticket."

Unlike the regular season road games which were limited to one ticket per student, the Outback Bowl sale offers the chance to purchase a pair of tickets and allows bowl-bound students the opportunity to partner up on the expenses and experiences that come with a post-season bowl game trip.

Complete and detailed instructions, costs and deadlines for the Outback Bowl Student Ticket Sale are outlined on the web page applications, easily accessed through the Penn State Bowl Central tile on the home page of www.GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics.

Coach Joe Paterno’s Nittany Lions will bring an 8-4 record into their third Outback Bowl appearance, having previously defeated Auburn (1996) and Kentucky (1999). Penn State’s SEC opponent will be determined on Sunday. The Outback Bowl will kick off at 11:00 a.m. in Raymond James Stadium.
