The Museum of Life and Science and the Duke University Chapter of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society invites you to participate in the Durham Science Café on Nanotechnology.

Please join us on Thursday, September 28 from 7:00 - 9ish pm at Broad Street Café (1116 Broad St. - Durham, NC) as we continue our series of cafés on issues at the intersection of science and society.

Join professionals Dr. Michael Falvo of UNC-CH's Physics Department and Hope Shand, Research Director at the Carrboro, North Carolina office of the Ottawa-based Action Group on Erosion, Technology and Concentration as they share their views on nanotechnology and the future of small science. Afterwards, join in the dialogue as we discuss the potential benefits as well as the unknown risks associated with nanotechnology, and who should play the major role in shaping its future development and the government policies concerning its use.

PSU vs. Notre Dame

Perhaps one of the season’s biggest college football games, Penn State vs. Notre Dame kicks off at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday. We’ll be at Oh’ Mulligans….

During the Notre Dame game we will be raffling off a Derrick Williams jersey. Tickets are $2 or 3 for $5. The drawing will be at halftime. Proceeds benefit our endowed scholarship.

We will also announce the winner of the Illinois tickets.

Penn Staters showed up in force at the Akron game. More than 82 members signed in at the door, but many more were present.

A special thank you to Matt Stewart and his sound system and to the “Best Little Brass Band in Carolina.”
